ESU database as an update and extension of the ecoinvent data v2.2 in SimaPro
The ecoinvent v2.2 data according to the attributional methodology have been published in 2010. Several updates are available for free on our webpage. ESU-services has discovered numerous errors in the version v2.2 and corrected them. We have updated certain datasets such as operation of transport devices in order to allow the assessment of noise. Furthermore, we have extended this background database for important processes. An example is the provision of country specific datasets for tap water supply in more than 10 countries. All this knowledge is now sold in one package.
The ESU database is based on the UVEK LCI Data 2018. An update of LCI data for crude oil, natural gas and mineral oil products was integrated in this database version. Further LCI datasets have been added e.g. on the provision of tap water in several countries or new LCI data published by Plastics Europe. Many other data were corrected or slightly updated. There are about 6400 datasets in this database. The ESU database contains 179 new and 439 updated dataset. A detailed description of the updates can be downloaded.
ESU-services charges a few for integration of the several updates available but is not the sole owner of all LCI available in this version. The prerequisites for using these datasets are an installation of the SimaPro software combined with a valid ecoinvent licence for v2.2. The data can be provided as a SimaPro database or in a CSV file that can be used as a new library instead of the existing "ecoinvent unit processes" library in SimaPro.
